Garfield Park Preparatory Academy (GPPA) is a new school that opened in Fall 2009 that serves 200 Kindergartners through 6th graders. At full capacity, GPPA will have 350 students in grades K through 8.

We follow the 2012-2013 CPS academic calendar with an extended school day from 8:00-3:30, double periods in reading and math, flexible scheduling for students, and physical education . Every classroom has qualified adults – teachers and teaching assistants – to provide individualized education to all students.

We recruit students by advertising at community organizations, schools, and businesses throughout East Garfield Park. We have partnered with community organizations to recruit teachers and other staff members who can help develop Garfield Park Prep into a vital part of East Garfield Park.
